The Focused Coach: Mastering Emotions to Win
Our first virtual Coaches Panel, The Focused Coach: Mastering Emotions to Win, brought together Olympic champions and world-class coaches to explore the power of emotional intelligence in sports. Featuring insights from Olympic gold medalist Natasha Hastings and University of Miami Head Coach Amy Deem, the discussion highlighted how EI unlocks potential, builds mental toughness, and transforms coaching. Panelists shared proven strategies, real-life success stories, and actionable techniques to enhance athlete performance. As Coach Deem put it, "You coach the athlete, not the event." This event reinforced that great coaching starts with empathy, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the athlete.
Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center
May of 2023 eiFOCUS hosted Success With Empathy and Trust (SWEAT), a training for coaches of female athletes. In our SWEAT training, participants learned the skills of emotional intelligence and how to apply them to their coaching style so female athletes thrive in their sport and in their lives. Participants had the opportunity to meet and learn from other coaches across all sports and workshop with peers.
Peak Performance Training with the Australian National Water Polo Team
eiFOCUS took a trip to Australia where we worked with the Australian National Water Polo Team and their Coach, Olympic Silver Medalist Maureen O’Toole Purcell on Peak Performance Training. Several of the athletes went on to play at Nationals right after our training where they won a silver medal! Congratulations Devils!

Our founder, Sarah Kivel, had the honor of spending a few days at The Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs working with coaches and athletes on Peak Performance Training.
Walnut Creek Aquanuts Win Gold & High Point Award at US Nationals
eiFOCUS had the honor of working with these during the 2019 seasons on Peak Performance Training. Between the two teams, they took home 5 gold medals and the High Point Award! Olympic Gold Medalist Tammy McGregor also won the Junior Coach of the Year Award.
